Review - Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water All in 1

Hi Lovelies, Today I am bringing you my review on the NEW Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water All in 1. This is a relatively new product on the Australian beauty market. I purchased this product from Priceline. The RRP price was $11.99 (although Priceline always has specials on, so if you’re lucky you can pick it up for around the $ 8 -$9). This product is also available from Chemist Warehouse, The Discount Drugstore, Woolworths, Coles and Big W.
This product is advertised as an ‘all in 1 cleanser’. Garnier are endorsing that ‘Micells’ are an active cleansing ingredient which act as a magnet to capture impurities, make-up and sebum on the skin without vigorous rubbing. The result is perfectly cleansed and refreshed skin without vigorous rubbing or rinsing. The formula is perfume free and claims to be suitable for all skin types, even sensitive. Micellar Cleansing Water's 400mL format corresponds to 200 applications (on a cotton pad). The product is also Ophthalmologically and dermatologically tested.

Gainer product ingredients: AQUA / WATER, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, GLYCERIN, POLOXAMER 184, DISODIUM COCOAMPHODIACETATE, DISODIUM EDTA, POLYAMINOPROPYL BIGUANIDE.

Gainer instructions: Wipe face, eyes and lips with a cotton pad soaked with Micellar Cleansing Water. No vigorous rubbing or rinsing required.
Okay, so the reason why I purchased this product was because I have read and heard that it is a dupe for Bioderma. As far as I know Bioderma is only available in Australia from Priceline, however you may be able to find it online. Bioderma is a Crealine H2O Cleanser and Make Up Remover. Similar to Garnier’s cleansing water Bioderma is a gentle daily cleansing and make-up removing water for face and eyes. It claims to be a “gentle fragrance-free micellar solution that cleanses impurities and removes make-up while respecting the skin's natural balance”. Furthermore the “power of its ultra-gentle micelles that solubilise in water and capture fatty molecules (dirt, sebum and make-up), Crealine H2O cleanses and soothes sensitive and intolerant skin. The product is Soap-free, fragrance-free, alcohol-free and hypoallergenic Non rinse.

Bioderma product ingredients: WATER (AQUA), PEG-6 CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC GLYCERIDES, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, CUCUMIS SATIVUS (CUCUMBER) FRUIT EXTRACT, MANNITOL, XYLITOL, RHAMNOSE, FRUCTOOLIGOSACCHARIDES, DISODIUM EDTA, CETRIMONIUM BROMIDE.
Bioderma instructions: Soak a cotton pad with the product and simply cleanse you face and eyes. No rising required. Daily use: morning and evening.

As you can see both products contain very similar ingredients and claim to cleanse the skin and remove makeup, however there is one BIG difference… THE PRICE and QUANTITY of product. 250mls of Bioderma retails for $29.99 from Priceline, almost three times the amount of the Garnier Cleansing Water. Is there a difference? Not really. Both products remove makeup and cleanse the face. Both products are gentle of the skin and cause no irritation. The only difference that I can pick is that the Bioderma removes my makeup, in particular my face makeup just that little bit better. I do find that after using the Garnier cleansing water I still have to go in with my eye makeup remover to remove my eye makeup, and sometimes I need to also use a makeup wipe to remove any remaining foundation. Overall I would agree that the Garnier cleansing water is a dupe for Bioderma. It is certainly more affordable, more values for your money and more accessible.
